Face Fit Testing

Qualitative respiratory fit test for tight fitting respirators in line with the COSHH (Control of Substance Hazardous to Health) and the Approved Code of Practice (ACoP) regulations for the mandatory testing of respiratory protective equipment (RPE).

Objectives

  • 1. To test whether the selected tight-fitting respirator fits the wearer.
  • 2. To provide test results to your employer for retention and review.
  • 3. To educate the potential consequences of poor fitting and the misuse of masks.

Why is a face fit test required?

  • The law requires protection of employees and others from hazardous substances by preventing and/or controlling exposure.
  • To check whether a tight fitting face-piece fits correctly to your face. One size does not fit all.
  • If the face-piece does not fit correctly, it won’t protect you.
  • Consequently, you could suffer immediate or long term ill health.
